a) New EUDR guidance:
To help with the implementation of the regulations, the guidance will provide additional clarification to businesses and competent authorities.
The guidance is divided into 11 chapters, which addresses a wide range of topic including legality requirements, timeframe of application, agricultural use, and clarifications on the product scope.
Updates on penalties, information on the Information System’s functions, and clarifications of critical definitions like “forest degradation,” “operator” as defined by law, and “placing on the market” are among the important topics addressed.

b) Updated FAQs (ver 1.3)
More than 40 new answers have been included to the updated FAQs to address queries from a wide spectrum of global stakeholders.
Key areas cover in the new questions include details clarification on:
- Geolocation
- Definition of forest degradation from practical scenarios, forest planted for protection or ecosystem restoration
- Transitional period
- Roles of certification or verification schemes
- Due diligence reporting and information system
- Obligations of non-EU based companies.

c) Released an updated International Cooperation Framework
The framework aims to support global stakeholders, Member States and third countries in their preparations for the implementation of the EU Deforestation Regulation. The published frameworks set out the principles for the methodologies that will be applied to the EUDR benchmarking exercise, which will be used to classify countries as low, standard or high risk.
The vast majority of countries around the world will be classified as “low risk” based on the methodology outlined in the Framework.

d) Completion of the Information System
The information system where companies will register their due diligence statements will be ready to accept registrations in early November and will be fully operational in December, allowing operators and traders to register and submit due diligence statements even before the law comes into force.
